Born in Genoa, Jacopo Bellussi began his training at the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala before continuing at the Royal Ballet School, where he graduated with highest honors in 2011.
He started his professional career with Bayerisches Staatsballett II for one season before joining the Hamburg Ballet in 2012 under the direction of John Neumeier. Promoted to Soloist in 2017 and Principal Dancer in 2019, his rapid progression within the company reflects his artistic excellence. During this period, he explored his director’s repertoire while taking on major roles from both the classical and contemporary repertoire.
In 2024, he spent a season performing between the Hamburg Ballet and the Ballet du Capitole de Toulouse, further strengthening his international reputation. In 2025, following John Neumeier’s departure from Hamburg Ballet, he joined the Ballets de Monte-Carlo as a Principal Dancer.
Jacopo has received numerous honors, including the “Best Italian Dancer Abroad” award at the Danza&Danza Awards in 2016, the “Konstanze Vernon Prize”, the “Positano Léonide Massine Prize” in 2022, and the prestigious “Città di Foligno International Dance Prize” in 2024. That same year, he was also named “Global Ambassador of Genoa.”
Alongside his performing career, he organizes several charity galas in his hometown, bringing together internationally renowned artists. The success of these events led to his appointment in 2024 as “Senior Consultant” for the development of the Nervi International Ballet Festival 2025. Following an expression of interest from the Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice, he was subsequently appointed Artistic Director of the festival, curating a program featuring prestigious companies such as the Royal Ballet, the Stuttgart Ballet, and the Ballet de l’Opéra national de Paris.
