Originally from the United Kingdom, Matthew Knight trained at the Elmhurst School for Dance before continuing his studies at the Royal Ballet Upper School.
In 2013, upon completing his training, he joined the junior company of Ballett Zürich, a transitional training program, and the following year became a full member of the company.
Nearly ten years later, in 2023, his career took a new turn when Matthew moved to Germany to join the Staatsballett Berlin, where he currently performs as a soloist.
Matthew has performed numerous leading roles in creations and productions by major choreographers such as Christian Spuck, Jiří Kylián, William Forsythe, and Hans van Manen. He has also distinguished himself in works by Crystal Pite, Marco Goecke -including the title role in “Nijinski”-, and Marcos Morau, as well as performing works by Ohad Naharin, Johan Inger, Wayne McGregor, Cathy Marston, and Douglas Lee.
