Use of the personal data we collect

Comments

When you leave a comment on our website, the data in the comment form, your IP address and your browser user agent are collected to help us weed out inappropriate comments.

An anonymised chain created from your email address (also called hash) can be sent to the Gravatar service to verify if you really are this person. The Gravatar service confidentiality clauses are available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After validating your comment, your profile photo will be publicly visible next to your comment.

Media

If you are a registered user and you download pictures from the website, we advise you to avoid downloading pictures that contain EXIF data from GPS coordinates. Visitors to your website can download and extract location data from these images.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you will be asked to register your name, email address and website in the cookies. This is merely for your own convenience to avoid having to re-enter this information if you make another comment at a later date. These cookies expire after one year.

If you have an account and you connect on this site, a temporary cookie will be created to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It does not contain personal data and will be automatically removed on closing your browser.

When you log in, we will set up a certain number of cookies to register your login information and your screen preferences. A login cookie lasts two days, and a screen option cookie lasts one year. If you tick “Remember me”, your login cookie will be kept for two weeks. If you sign out of your account, the login cookie will be deleted.

When modifying or publishing, an extra cookie will be registered in your browser. This cookie does not include any personal data. It simply indicates the ID of the publication you have just modified. It expires after one day.

Embedded content from other sites

The articles from this site can include embedded content (such as videos, pictures, articles, etc.) Content embedded from other sites behaves as if the visitor were visiting this other site.

Use and transmission of your personal data

How long your data is stored

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata will be kept indefinitely. This makes it possible to recognise and automatically approve the following comments instead of leaving them in the moderation queue.

For users who are registered on our site (if this is possible), we also store the personal data given in their profile. All users can see, change or remove their personal information at any time (except for their username). The site administrators can also see and change this information.

Your rights concerning your data

If you have an account or if you have made comments on the site, you can ask to receive a file containing all the personal data that we have on you, including any that you have provided. You can also ask to have personal data on you deleted. This does not include data stored for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Transmission of your personal data

Visitor comments can be verified using an automated service to detect undesirable comments.
